The leather body of the helmet is exceptionally clean, showing only relatively light age crazing, primarily on the rear visor. The fish scale chin strap is in place, with some of the scales showing a loss of finish. The front wappen plate, the spike, the spike base, the front visor edge, and the rear spine all show an uncleaned patina. The rear visor has lost the brass edge trim. Both the national colors officer cockade as well as the Hessian officer cockade are present on the helmet. The interior leather sweatband is present , as is the silk lining, with the lining having become detached in the rear and showing some separations. Overall the helmet is in excellent condition and it makes a very fine appearance.
