Imperial German Double Maker Marked Model M1898/05 Butcher Blade Bayonet by L. O. Dietrich / Hilger & Sohne, with Frog and Knot
$57.06
$73.61
The blade is generally quite clean, showing typical spots and surface dirt, but it is without nicks, chips or active rust. The ricasso bears the firm name of maker Hilger & Sohne on one side, while the opposite side has the maker name of L.O. Dietrich of Altenburg. The spine has a royal cypher mark, but it is without a date. The bayonet is the model with a flash guard on the grip spine and with the vestigial “ears” of the muzzle ring. The wood grip plates show age and patina, with pock marks from field use, as well as small gouges or cracks adjacent to the screws, but the grip plates are intact. The guard and the pommel show age but they retain much finish. The pommel bears a waffen amt mark. The metal scabbard shows age and some wear to the finish. The leather frog is dry and it shows age and surface flaking, but it remains pliable and complete. The bayonet knot exhibits age and soiling, but it is complete and intact. Overall the bayonet set is in very good field used condition.
