1914 Dated Model M1898/05 Butcher Blade Bayonet by Alexander Coppel with Frog and Knot
$42.74
$75.65
The blade is generally clean, showing typical spots and surface dirt, but it is without nicks, chips or active rust. The ricasso bears the firm name of Alexander Coppel of Solingen. The spine has the date of “14”. The bayonet is the model with a flash guard on the grip spine and with the vestigial “ears” of the muzzle ring. The wood grip plates show age and patina, with pock marks from field use, but they are without chips or cracks. The guard and the pommel show age but they retain much finish. The pommel bears waffen amt marks. The leather scabbard shows age and a bit of shrinkage, so that the bayonet does not seat entirely within the scabbard. The leather frog is somewhat dry and it shows age, but it remains pliable and complete. The bayonet knot exhibits age and soiling, but it is complete and intact. Overall the bayonet set is in very good field used condition.
