The blade is generally very clean, showing some spots and surface dirt, but it is without nicks, chips or active rust. The cutting edge of the blade bears indications of sharpening. The ricasso bears the firm name of Herder on one side, while the opposite side has the maker name of Amberg. The spine has a royal cypher mark, and the date of “15”. The bayonet is the model with a flash guard on the grip spine and with the vestigial “ears” of the muzzle ring. The wood grip plates show age and patina, with pock marks from field use, but the grip plates are intact. The guard and the pommel show age but they retain much finish. One side of the guard is unit marked “S.P. Bn. 310”, while the opposite side of the guard is marked “1920”. The pommel bears royal cypher marks. The metal scabbard shows age and some wear to the finish, with surface rust. The leather frog is somewhat dry and it shows age, but it remains pliable and complete. Overall the bayonet is in very good field used condition.
