The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 35-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 27-1/2 inches. The plated blade shows spots and surface grime, but it is generally clean and it displays a visible false temper line. The grip remains tightly triple wrapped with wire. The hilt displays an uncleaned patina. The guard is a pierced style with integral cherry blossoms, while the backstrap bears a silver Mons family crest. The scabbard was painted in flat dark green for wear in the combat theater, with the paint showing age and wear but being largely intact. Overall the sword is in very good field used condition.
