The two liter pottery stein is approximately 14 inches tall in overall height. The base is marked “Germany”, as required by international law in the late 19th century, when goods that might enter the United States were required to be marked with the country of origin. The stein bears the German phrase of “Auf Groen War’s Nicht Halb So Schon, Musst Durstig Man Zu Bette Geh’n!” (“It wasn’t half as nice on the big days, you had to go to bed thirsty!”). The stein is in excellent condition, without chips or cracks.
