Four Original Pieces of a Japanese Officer’s Artwork from Kiska Island in July 1943

The four pieces of art were created with colored pencils on paper. One piece depicts two Japanese soldiers, seated at a table and apparently playing a game. Approximately 5-3/4 inches by 8 inches. The artwork includes kanji notations in red ink or pencil. A second piece depicts a mountain on the island and it is approximately 5-1/4 inches by 7-3/4 inches. The third piece shows a solitary figure near the coastline, apparently next to a cooking pot. The artwork has kanji notations in red pencil . The artwork was torn horizontally and repaired on the reverse with old cellophane tape. The final piece of artwork illustrates to Japanese soldiers lying down, wearing field caps and overcoats. The obverse corner has kanji notations in red ink, while the reverse side has additional kanji notations.  The soldiers name who drew these is  named “Sakura Takeshi” who was a navy doctor with the rank of commander, they are titled “Looking for enemy aircraft”, “Men laying at Kiska”, “July 4, 1943”. A note on the reverse of one is presenting the drawings after the war and stating “I survived”. Overall very good condition.
